#theordinary - Looking Passed the Marketing & Dissecting the Ingredients
"Alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) exfoliate the skin's topmost surface for a brighter and more even appearance. Beta hydroxy acids (BHA) also exfoliate the skin with an extended function to help clear pore congestion. This combined 32% AHA/BHA solution offers deeper exfoliation to help fight visible blemishes and for improved skin radiance. Next time you want results, look on the back of the bottle and the price tag. While the price point for this product is enticing, I want to dig a little deeper at the ingredients. Right off the bat-this formula reminds me of a #vampirefacial. It is a rich red color almost like blood. The formula to me is very aggressive. It is packed just like it says with AHA & BHA power. It is no wonder why this is probably better for those with acne-prone skin. It has a ton of acids to help remove skin and work with scars. It of course is evened out with buffers-one being lye. Lye can actually cause burns if not formulated right-causing more harm than good. If you have sensitive skin or even someone like me who can only use a little acidic treatment, this product is probably not the best. You might find yourself with minor burns, more irritation, and for $8 that just is not worth 'trying' it to find out. I might use this as more of a spot treatment or a body treatment for #backne.
In all fairness, the company does have "Note: This formula contains a very high concentration of free acids. We recommend use only if you are an experienced user of acid exfoliation and your skin is not sensitive." At the end of the day, know your skin! Have you tried The Ordinary?
