Pressed Glitter & Highlighter Review
What I Purchased:
36mm Pressed Pan Highlighter: Rose Gold
26mm Pressed Pan Glitter: Milky Way, Shooting Star, and #28
Price: On Sale around $5 per pan
Ease of Purchasing: The website is busy!! The actual salon [nails, hair, make-up] as well as the cosmetics share a main page. For those of us out of state, I think the website would serve better if they were separate. The actual shopping portion was easy to navigate once I had the items in my cart.
Shipping: Price to ship is very reasonable at under $3.50 for the 4 products I purchased with options to upgrade. I ordered on a Friday. The products shipped first thing Monday and they were delivered that following Saturday. It took about 5 days to receive.
First Impression: The cosmetics were packaged well with a lot of bubble wrap and cushion to ensure no damage done. Cute packaging and love the saying on the back of the sleeve, "#Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. - Hebrews 11:1".
I contacted sales as the Rose Gold Highlighter I received looks nothing like the one on the website [left photo]. What are your thoughts? To me, it more resembles their Rose blush pan[right]. It has some Gold shimmer but not enough to be called a #Highlighter. The color is way to rich for my skin tone! All the other Pressed Glitters look like the website (actually better in person).
Customer Service: I was thrilled to receive a direct email from the owner within 24 hours of placing my order thanking me. I also received an email back regarding my order. They consider the blush pan I received to be a #highlighter (though I am still unclear how) and is meant for darker toned skin. They happily refunded me the purchase price. What do you think constitutes a highlighter?
Application/Use: By using my finger, I swatched the all the products. I had to swipe twice to be able to get the full spectrum of the color on the glitter pans. I barely swatched the blush pan and my finger sunk in. It is also highly pigmented! They do note on the website:
Due to our non-glycerin formula, its very important that you're gentle. If you rub your brush in the glitter too hard, it will move. Best to use with a brush or finger tips in a patting motion.
The formulas for all the products is very soft so a light hand is a must!
I wore Shooting Star in the tear duct area using #crownbrush C210. The formula is light, non-greasy, silky, and easy to manipulate. After a ten-hour wear, there was very little fall out and the glitter stayed in place without glues or adhesives. I look forward to using Milky Way in a more glamorous smoky eye look this weekend!
Rose Gold Highlighter - Satin bright Rose with Gold Flakes
Shooting Star - lightly frosted base with small and large silver reflective #glitter. This will be fun for tear ducts and inner corners!
Milky Way - Light pink, gold, and black base with larger reflective chunks. I think the name is very fitting!
#28 - Black, fuschia, silver, gold, and reflective glitter make this very similar to Milky Way. This glitter is a little deeper.
What I Love: Glitter has some great dimension. The glitter pans make it easy to build the glitter to your personal preference and travel with them. They are Cruelty Free and made in the USA.
What I Would Change: Not all the colors have swatches, great photos, descriptions and the naming is inconsistent [some have fun names, some are just numbers]. I would love to see an overall haul on the website with better product pictures, swatches, descriptions, and a separate landing page for just the cosmetics.
I enjoy choosing smaller companies to purchase products from. It's important to support small businesses! This company being woman owned with US made products struck me as one to try. I would purchase the same colors of pressed glitter but would not venture to try new colors or products without some product updates.
There site is busy and in need of an overall revamp to establish and define all the dynamics of the landing page. The photos, descriptions, and lack of swatches makes buying these products a bit #risky. Maybe it looks like the photo-maybe it doesn't!
With the cosmetic industry booming, smaller companies really need to have their -ish together to compete & excel and make a name for themselves. I think with some elbow grease and fine tuning, this company could pull ahead in the cosmetic race. The owner is clearly talented!
